Would it be weird showing a hairdresser how I was my hair done?

I'm totally bad at explaining how I want my hair done so if I were to print this picture off and show the hairdresser this:

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff90/…

Would they think I'm being weird? and would they be able to do it?Would it be weird showing a hairdresser how I was my hair done?
It is definitely not weird - I do it - a lot of people do it, and the hairdresser would much prefer a picture than someone trying with words %26amp; gestures to describe the cut they want. Most of us can't explain it very well and the hairdresser may get a completely different idea from the one you're trying to describe. So it is the smart thing to do and it makes it so much easier for both you and the hairdresser. If the hairdresser doesn't think the hairstyle would suit your face - and the type of hair you have would also have to be considered, thickness and texture for instance - she/he would be able to suggest little changes to the hairstyle you want using the picture as a reference so that you both understand. You would get the hairstyle you're looking for, but cut to flatter your particular face shape and features. It would also be a good idea to bring pictures of other, different hairstyles that you like and discuss with your hairdresser which one would be the best suited for you.Would it be weird showing a hairdresser how I was my hair done?
No most hairdressers would prefer that you take a pic,
What better way to explain to your hairdresser how you want the style to look than with a picture, if they are a reputable hair stylist the style can be done. However, a good stylist will be honest and tell if the stlye is not for you, it is then up to you to either go with that style or try one that flatters your face. Good luck.
Of course not! They get it all the time, everyone does it. Anyway, if you can't explain it and that is the only way, it will probably help the hairdresser alot.
this is a great thing to do your hairdresser and you should always have a talk before anything happens...and no they don't think you're werid they actually enjoy someone who knows what they want but dont add pressure remember certain looks are meant for certain faces good luck!
No thats not weird at all, theres nothing wrong with showing a picture of the way you want your hair, atleast your sure and will get it the way you want.

Good luck.
It's always a good idea to take a picture in and show it to your stylist. The one problem with celeb pictures like that is that the hair has gone through a lot of styling, so it might be harder for your stylist to judge just how short to cut your hair. And if you want it to look like that you'll have to make sure you know how to achieve that look. There's nothing worse than trying to mimic a style and not being able to do it because you don't know how it was done.
A picture is worth a thousand words. How many hairstyle magazines do they have laying around in those places? A lot, and there's a reason for that. If you have a specific style you are looking for, a good hairstylist would much rather see a picture than have you try to describe it.
They wouldn't find that weird at all. Alot of people do that.

As long as you don't have shorter hair than the style you show them. That would make you seem crazy. (:
from my experience most of them prefer a picture.
no, they need to know how you want it done so they don't mess it up, and normally they have men/womens hair magazines there so that customers can say ';hey i want it to look like that and so forth'; it won't be wierd people do it all the time. and yes they should be able to do it if not (honestly and not to be mean) they shouldn't have a license that would be easy to do,
i think they prefer having a visual. i like to print pics and take them too.
No, of course not! That is all I ever do when I want something new. The hairdresser appreciates it and you are a lot more likely to get what you want. I think it's weird/not smart NOT to bring a photo!
AND they can tell u if a style would suit ur face and hair type. thats a nice cut u have chosen.
Thats not weird. Usually hair salons have magazines and hair books laying around so that you can do that. they want you to. I cut out pictures and bring them in all the time! It may not be exactly like the picture but they sure do try.
no not at all!! id say they will prefer you to show them a picture of what you want done incase they pick it up wrong and do the wrong style for you!!
um no. they want you to tell them that so they dont end up giving you a cut you dont like and then you ask for your money back.
no .. they would think its normal most people bring in pictures of styles the would like !!

hope this helps....xx!!
no they won't think ur weird. a picture is so much easier to use as a tool.
Definatly not they actually love it when people bring in photos. Many hairdressers are visual people having a picture just helps them even more.

How do i explain to my hairdresser what scene hair is?

example: layered on top, majorly thinned by the bottomHow do i explain to my hairdresser what scene hair is?
Bring in a picture. Not all scene hair is the same, anyway, so you should find exactly what you want first, If you go to photobucket and type in ';scene hair'; you will find a lot of examples. How do i explain to my hairdresser what scene hair is?
If you have to explain it to your hairdresser then she does not know how to do it. A hairdressers JOB is to be up on the latest styles and trends.

Do you really want her learning on your head?

Go to a hairdresser who knows what it means and has experience doing it.
Go to a Beauty College, bring lots of pictures, ask for lots of layers. People in Beauty Colleges are younger so they'll understand what you want.
Print out this picture:

And say lots of layers on the top and longer layers on the bottem.
Just tell her that. It will help to also bring a picture to him/her.

Help please?

I dont know any in particular but if you go to www.yelp.com you can put in Palo Alto and hair salon and there you can see other peoples reviews on particular hair salons. I'd start there and find a few that have good reviews then go to the actual salon and ask them whether they think they can pick up where the highlights have been left off, ask about their prices and then call later to make an appointment. Good luck (i have tried to have my highlights continued from where theyve grown out and the hair stylists have always screwed up, that was at a beauty school though so avoide those)

Can you go to the hairdresser ONLY to get bangs cut?

I got a haircut about 2 weeks ago and my side bangs are already grown out and are always in my eyes. Can I go to the hairdresser only to get my bangs cut? Or is it better to get my whole head cut? :SCan you go to the hairdresser ONLY to get bangs cut?
it's cheaper and faster to get just your bangs cut. if you go to the same person who cut your hair a few weeks ago, they might even remember you and do it for free since it takes about 3o secondsCan you go to the hairdresser ONLY to get bangs cut?
Well if your bangs already grew out then the rest of your hair probably grew out as well. I would just get an all out trim in that case.
Just trim your bangs, you can do that, at the hairdressers. You don't need to get an entire cut.
Yes but why pay wgen you can do it yourself.
you can do whatever you want, just get your bangs cutt.
Some hair care places (like JCPenny salon) offer to just cut your bangs for around $10
Uhh, Love, u pay them to do whatevr YOU choose. I'd say if ur gonna spend the money u may as well trim up the whole do a teensy bit
Oh yeah of course. Depends where you go some places they will cut them for free:)

print off a really good picture of a haircut u would like. and show it to them.

What should I tell the hairdresser?

I have really thick hair and a lot of it! So it gets really poofy.

What do I tell the hairdresser so that she can just like make me have less hair if you no what i mean?

Just so that it lays instead of being all puffy

and also if i layer it and dye the bottom-most layer like reddish-pinkish ... would that look bad since my hair is sort of wavy? And will it look messed up with my green eyes and black hair?

thanks! What should I tell the hairdresser?
Just say you want it thinned out. She'll / he'll either do it with shears or by giving you layers.

As for the dye-job, I think that would look sweet. Do it for sure. What should I tell the hairdresser?
tell her you want it thinned.

%26amp;straighten your hair if you get the pink/red.

    :]
You can find thousands of hairstyles using http://mystyles.info for links to websites offering different hairstyles, tips and free makeovers. You can upload a photo and try different hairstyles, to finalise the most suitable hairstyle.
Yeah ask them to thin it, if they say they can't go to another salon. It can be done, I've seen it done. Don't bother dying the bottom layer red/pink, it just wouldn't look too good. It has nothing to do with wavyness, I just think that look is very played out and unoriginal. You're better than that! =]

Also invest in a good quality flat iron, don't spend less than 50 bucks. A good 400 degree plus flat iron will take all of the poofiness away. A cheap one won't do the trick!
u should just get it chemical straightened
Ask her to thin it out a bit.. I think thats what you mean
Ask her to thin it out, and I don't think it would look too good having the pink/red at the bottom.

No you generally just wash your hair and go so that it is easy for cutting.
wash your hair proparly and style them normally
It depends for what purpose you are going there.

You dont have to do anything if you are going for a hair wash. But if you just wanna a hair cut or hair styling then wash your hair and dont style it. leave it lose. Let the hairdresser do the rest
No, It would be a really odd thing to do since you are paying them to do that for you
    no
I used to until somebody told me its like washing ur car promptly before u take it to the car wash! :P
    no
No , I won't. But my mom used to do it .
I do wash it before i go.
Just wash and style your hair like you normally do. That way you feel comfortable with yourself when you go.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=鈥?/a>How to communicate with my hairdresser?
why not take a pic? It's the easiest way for her to know exactly what you want.
Bring her a pic or ask her to look at one of the books w/ different styles or just tell her what you want!
If you have what you want, taking a picture is the best thing to do. I wanted the same style and ended up with more than half my hair cut so i ended up with a very shaggy cut..XD it wasn't bad and i even tipped her. But you can always try to describe as much as possible of what you want or even look at the magazines in the salon while waiting to show her. If you got something you really want, best way is to take proof. sryyy
Just tell her in full detail what you want. Personally, when I go, I take a pic of what I want so they truly understand what I want, and they have it right in front of them. But, just explain in full detail, and then hopefully she understands. ^^

Who will tell me flat out, ';no that won't look good on you, here are some suggestions.'; Oh and who isn't too expensive. It would be great to come out with a finished look for under $65. I don't want my hair colored-just cut, dried, and styled. But I can't afford paying $40 for the cut, and another $35 for the blowdry, and then some for them to do the finishing touch. Hair grows back! how much of a mess would the hairdress do to you that you think you wouldnt go out for the next month? Cut off your back lenght hair to shoulder lenght...I am quite sure there are ways to make yourself understood. Hair cutting isnt such a big deal.

I live in Hong Kong and I'm French. Now, chinese hair and caucasian hair is MAJORLY different in texture and how it falls after cutting. They always want thin hair (due to extremely thick hair shaft). Well, hairdresser guy was one of the low level salons (I'm not ready to spend 60euros on a hair cut anytime soon), and he did quite well. With no english, obviously!

You have been at the hairdresser before. Try to show him...mime it...he'll get your meaning.

Otherwise, hair cut is : Je voudrais me faire couper les cheveux (I would like to have my hair cut)

Je voudrais un degrade pas trop court = I would like a layered style but not too short

Je voudrais une coupe au carre = I would like an above the shoulders straight cut

Je voudrais une frange = I would like to have bangs (frindge?)

Ne coupez pas trop court = Do not cut too short

    couper = to cut

If you aren't camera savvy, a casio is a GREAT product. I am a hairdresser as well. I have had a cannon and an HP both break on me in the past year. I bought a casio exilim and I LOVE it. Their customer service is unbeatable, and it takes awesome pics. The best part is that you can use the ';easy'; mode and it does all the work for you OR you can play around with the many options. I LOVE mine and I use it for my portfolio.

PS, about the easy mode, my salon has weird lighting and UGLY bright orange walls, but with this camera on the easy mode it adjusts itself and the pics turn out great!
I like canon g10 and recommend it to you too

it captures really wonderful photos like proffesional digital camera and is very compact
Canon cameras are really good %26lt;3 There are tons of models you can look at. Mine's a Canon Rebel XT
just a small camera should be more than enough…try a casio exilim, I have one and it takes awsome pics
    SONY is the best

Does anyone know if there is an English speaking hairdresser in \near La Rochefaucauld?

I speak only a little French and I don't want to make any irreversible mistakes at a French salon. I know this is a bit pathetic, however I also have a daughter and two sons who need a trim too and it could get confusing. Visiting the hairdressers is one of the few things I have not summed up the courage to do since we arrived LAST APRIL!! Need help, anyone! MercixxDoes anyone know if there is an English speaking hairdresser in \near La Rochefaucauld?

Ne coupez pas trop court = Do not cut too short

    couper = to cut

    court = short

long = ...same thing in english

    degrade = layered

colore = get a color done

Bonne Chance...you'll look great!Does anyone know if there is an English speaking hairdresser in \near La Rochefaucauld?
Not only a little pathetic... Go back to the UK for a hair cut and a few french lessons

Does anyone know the phone number for a portugese hairdresser in norfolk?

Languages spoken in our salon are English, Portuguese, Spanish and African Dialects.

  • How do I describe this hairstyle to the hairdresser??

Right, I really want my hair cut quite short but instead of being shorter at the front (like layers) its slightly longer at the front and goes shorter at the back (like charlie from totally frank's hair and sarah hend'ys new hair from freshly squeezed lol) I hope you know what I mean. I would like apicture of this style to but considering I don't know what it's called this is slightly difficult!!

    thanks in advance,

Alice xXxHow do I describe this hairstyle to the hairdresser??
Thats exactly how I have my hair just describe it too them they will know what you are talking about, they didn't give mine a name they just said to keep some length at the front and quite choppy and short at the back and full on the top.

Good luck xHow do I describe this hairstyle to the hairdresser??
Take a picture...look through magazines or online....that will help her understand what you want.
Its calld a swing bob....or just a regular stack has the front longer than the back...just specify when you go to the hair dresser that you want to leave the front longer
I would probably take a few pictures in and describe what you want out of every picture.
I would type in ';layered'; or ';short hair styles'; in a search engine and see what pictures it came up with. Maybe you will find the one your looking for :)
You're most likely referring to what is called a stacked bob.
Why don't you tell the hairdresser what you wrote down.
EITHER GET A PICTURE THAT LOOKS LIKE THAT HAIR, OR JUST SAY I WANT IT LONG IN FROM AND SHORT IN BACK!
Just go through a magazine and find the hairstyle you like and show your hair dresser

Where can I learn how to be a hairdresser in London, please?

Contact a few Colleges and talk to them about a course... or even an apprenticeship.

or, go to London and have a look and talk to them. But, College would be the best bet because, they know the better places to get experience from.

Good luck and i hope i helped. X

When i get my hair cut and the hairdresser?

only cuts a 1/4 inch why does it seem like he cuts alot more. then after two weeks it drops and looks like it's grown alot longer. why is that? When i get my hair cut and the hairdresser?
Probably because your ends are fresh and bouncy, adding more volume to your hair. this may make it seem shorter? I guess the ends would start to go dull, and it would loose some volume, making it look longerWhen i get my hair cut and the hairdresser?
It seems like a lot becuase it always looks like a lot when hair is cut off, and when you keep your hair cut it grows faster.
when you get your hair cut, it takes weight off of it, so it springs up, and even more if you have curly or wavy hair. then when it grows, it's weighed down again.

What should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?

I'm getting my hair cut tommarrow and I'm unsure what to ask for? My hair is a little past my shoulder blades and is somewhat thick. My printer is stupid and doesn't work so I can't get a picture, so what exactly should I tell her? Please help and I would appreciate honest answers and help. :DWhat should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?
I always told them ';really choppy on the top.';What should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?
    ohh easyyy...

say u want choppy layers, with the shortest layers being like, just slightly higher than the top of ur ear...lots of em thou

ask for fringe bangs, they really compliment the whole layers thing...

ummm and just say u want an off part, or a part thats really different from ur normal...that should be about right uk?

haha itll look good if u dye/highlight it just right too =)
    yeah

i saw this picture before and i really liked the hairstyle but i couldn't cut it because of my black hair colour.

but u can cut your hair if u want

i belive its gonna be great becose of the colours.

    good luck
Not my favourite type of hairstyle but

Tell her that you want a lot of short layers at the top and full side bangs. Also tell her to make your hair thinner at the bottom.
just print out a picture from online and show up with it:) works everytime with me so they get exactly what im talking about
It's alright if your printer is not working! Save the picture in your phone or snap a picture of the hairstyle you like with your phone and show it to your hairdresser! Voila!
You need a photo so the hairdresser can reference it. They may not know what scene hair is. And also ask if they are positive they can do it.

  • Who do I escalate my hairdresser complaint to?

Ok, I had a Supercuts complaint which I was talking to their head office about and I am not at all happy with the outcome. The Supercuts is located in VA, I wondered is their an ombudsman I can escalate my complaint to? (I had my hair ruined by an 'experienced' hairdresser when cutting a very simple layered+bangs cut)Who do I escalate my hairdresser complaint to?
It's a franchise, so you probably won't get any further than the owner of the shop. Since hair grows back and a bad haircut is not life threatening; unless you want to devote all your time to a crusade against Supercuts, I'm afraid you are at the end of the road.

Use a rinse its semi permanent and washes out a little with every hair wash. Or you could use the old junior high hair dye we dyed our hair with kool aid.I need a recipe for red hilights that will wash out- it costs too much to go to the hairdressers or buy dye?
Hair is not alive, you cannot kill it. Red is a much bigger molecule than the brown and blonde molecules. This means that if you do it yourself or go to a salon, red dye always fades out really quickly. If you use heat and drugstore shampoo you have no chance of it staying in, so we always try to talk people out of dying their hair red. You would have to refresh the dye every week to keep the color, which is quite damaging.

Print off the picture and take it to the hairdresser. This style would look better on your round face if you had intermediate spiky layers so the hair could cover the sides of your cheeks more to elongate your face. The bangs are perfect but a round face would need those medium length layers brushed forward onto the cheeks. Good luck!! ; )

I am too. I have black hair and it seems that although salon stylists SAY they can do hair of all ethnicities, it is not true and I do my hair better than they do most of the time. I always think that I am going to walk out with a frizzy mess (it has happened before) and that I wasted my money only to go back home and re wash and style my hair.

I have used home use hair-dye for the past two years but i wanted to get it coloured professionally at the hairdressers and have a few highlights put it.....can this be done or do i need to grow the dye out of my hair first? I have never used peroxide just dark brown hair dye, and i wanted to keep it that coulour. and would they have to do two sittings or could they do the base colour and the highlights on the same day?? please help!!If i have used normal home use hair-dye..can i have my hair coloured and highlighted at the hairdressers?
Yes, you can have it done at the salon, the same day. Just be sure you tell your hairdresser the name and color of the product you put on your hair. This will make a big difference so she can formulate properly. If i have used normal home use hair-dye..can i have my hair coloured and highlighted at the hairdressers?
i have gone to the salon with a home dyed head and had them put in highlights. and i had no problems they came out great. and yes they are able to color and highlight in the same day. i haven't done it in a while cause i dye and highlight my own hair since i have short hair now and it's 50 bucks cheaper to do it myself
I alternate between home hair-dye and professional salon dye so you definitely can do it. I don't know about the highlights on the same day.
Yes you can get hightlights at the salon, they are professionally trained and have all the proper materials to highlight your hair, no matter what color you put in there. It will only have to take a couple hours to put the highlights in because they just put some bleach on it till it lift to the color you want.
I made the transition back to highlights after coloring my own hair for about a year. Just tell your hairdresser what products

you have used to color it with and they can give you the best

guidance and will know what is ok to do and not to do. I had no trouble - she was able to put blonde highlights in my red (colored by me) hair w/o any problems. What a relief it has

been to have her do the color now!

Does any one know whats the best haircut/style for really curly, bushy, dry, frizzy, long hair?? gd hairdressers?

    HI

I get a gypsy cut or ay least that is what it was called in the 70s. It is a long layered cut with a little bit of thinning and my hair is much more mangeable with it. I have long frizzy extremey thick curly bushy hair and I am a hairdresser.

LammyDoes any one know whats the best haircut/style for really curly, bushy, dry, frizzy, long hair?? gd hairdressers?
just keep your hair somewhat long because i cut mine short and i swear i had fro when i woke up.Does any one know whats the best haircut/style for really curly, bushy, dry, frizzy, long hair?? gd hairdressers?
Hey if you cut your hair it will grew back worse! More curls and frizz and bushy! I know from experience! My hair was beautiful a nd I chopped it all off! Actually when i was sleeping my older sister did! Then it grew back like weeds...
Or, you can get a really short cut, its what i got, and if the hairdresser cuts it shorter in the back, like really short so it raises up, it looks really cute! thats what i have! If you dont want to do that, try relaxing your hair, you can get it done at salons. it doesnt straighten, it just weighs it down a little so it isnt so frizzy.

Has anybody gotten their hair cut by a guy hairdresser and now it wont grow back?

well when i was in Mexico i wanted to get a haircut and my aunt took me to get one with a guy hairdresser and then now it has been a year and i have noticed that it hasn't grown back.Has anybody gotten their hair cut by a guy hairdresser and now it wont grow back?
that's really weird. usually it depends on how they cut it. at my salon, two of the hairdresser, when they cut hair, it take longer to grow out. It depends on the way they hold the scisscor/razor and how they cut it. But I never heard of your problem. You should try to use shampoo that let hair grow out faster, use something like Garnier Frutis Long and Strong. See if that work, or go to a hair salon and get your hair trim. That should help! When My hair took a long time to grow out i went and trimmed it and it grew out normal.(; good luckHas anybody gotten their hair cut by a guy hairdresser and now it wont grow back?
no guy hairdressers are better expeselly if they are gay,,, maby its cuz you dont eat you vegetebals and vitamines!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats kinda creepy, and you were in a different country so maybe they have something that prevents it from growing. idk lol. does your aunt notice?

Hey i have been dying my hair for about four years now i used to dye it black iwent to the hairdressers the ?

other day and they stripped the black out however , i was supposed to leave with a light brown hair colour but i had a strawberry blonde colour so i put the second box of dye on like the hair dressers said but its just gone more red the first dye was on saturday the second dye was on sunday i was wundering would my hair be able to stand being died on the wednesday a darker colour because it just looks awful!!

    thanks xx

Hey i have been dying my hair for about four years now i used to dye it black iwent to the hairdressers the ?
You don't need to put a darker color back on! You can get rid of the red hair by using a toner with an ashe, or green, base. The green will cancel out the red in your hair =)

Get a level that's the same as what you already have in there. You may need a hairdresser's help with this part, if you don't know your color level. Blonde is the lightest at 10 and black is the darkest at 1. Find out what level you are then get a color that's the SAME level in ASHE.

Follow the directions on the package and it should cancel out all the red, leaving a nice neutral color =)

    Hope that helps =)

  • What should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?

I'm getting my hair cut tommarrow and I'm unsure what to ask for? My hair is a little past my shoulder blades and is somewhat thick. My printer is stupid and doesn't work so I can't get a picture, so what exactly should I tell her? Please help and I would appreciate honest answers and help. :DWhat should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?
just print out a picture from online and show up with it:) works everytime with me so they get exactly what im talking aboutWhat should I tell my hairdresser when I want scene hair?
Not my favourite type of hairstyle but

Tell her that you want a lot of short layers at the top and full side bangs. Also tell her to make your hair thinner at the bottom.
    ohh easyyy...

say u want choppy layers, with the shortest layers being like, just slightly higher than the top of ur ear...lots of em thou

ask for fringe bangs, they really compliment the whole layers thing...

ummm and just say u want an off part, or a part thats really different from ur normal...that should be about right uk?

haha itll look good if u dye/highlight it just right too =)
    yeah

i saw this picture before and i really liked the hairstyle but i couldn't cut it because of my black hair colour.

but u can cut your hair if u want

i belive its gonna be great becose of the colours.

    good luck
    I always told them ';really choppy on the top.';
It's alright if your printer is not working! Save the picture in your phone or snap a picture of the hairstyle you like with your phone and show it to your hairdresser! Voila!
You need a photo so the hairdresser can reference it. They may not know what scene hair is. And also ask if they are positive they can do it.

Who do I escalate my hairdresser complaint to?

4 questions on lighting my hair to blonde from black???!! plase answer also better if hairdressers answer me!!

1#) ok so about 8-9 months ago i did a japanese hair str8ing process to my hair then just 3 or 4 weeks ago i dyed my hair black also got bleached highlights put in with pink and blue dye,but i didnt like the results,so i redyed my hair black again on the same day,but like a week after that i redyed my hair black again cuz the black wasnt showing much,(and yes all 3 times ive dyed my hair black i used permenant dye) BUT i ive wanted to bleach all my hair to a really pale blonde, and i was going to a few days ago but i didnt cuz the salonist told me that my hair was to damaged and to black to get blonde,so i got a strand test done and what she said happened also some hair seemed to shed off as well.so i didnt get it done,BUT lol i still REALLY want to do it cuz ive had black in my hair for so long,so i was thinking, instead of immidetaly bleaching my hair maybe i could start lighting it by tommorow or the next day well at least w/in this week,to get it to a light enough brown so i can dye4 questions on lighting my hair to blonde from black???!! plase answer also better if hairdressers answer me!!
Your hair is damaged already. You have a head full of color. Go to the beauty store and buy some color un-cut and use that. It will get all the color out your hair. Then dye your hair. It will take several times.4 questions on lighting my hair to blonde from black???!! plase answer also better if hairdressers answer me!!
hair that has been dyed to black especially more than once is practically impossible to get lightened to a very pale blonde

Have you ever considered wearing a wig? That way if you don't like the way it looks, it won't be permanent or damaging to your hair
i wouldnt under any circumstances bleach it!! it will kill it completely!!

you could start lightening it tho; this worked for me

1)spray lemon juice all over your hair-blowdry and repeat this will lighten it

2)the wash it with a strong, ideally medicated anti-dandruff shampoo-the best one i have found is called vosene-this will start to strip the colour

    3)condition it REALLY well

if you do this as often as you can in a few days/weeks your hair should lighten to a brown and then it will be easier for you to dye it blonde

good luck, hope this works for you
Girl, you are playing with fire. You may lose all your hair if you continue to overlap and oversaturate. Black hair is extremely hard to lift to pale blonde. Your hair will look terrible if you fry it and you may actually lose it all if you continue to abuse it. You need to let your hair rest baby girl! Then lighten it (not lighting it) incrementally. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but you need to hear it. I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for over 17 years. Too much instant gratification will get you in trouble!

You can get a world of information on my site about your hair. Check it out sometime if you want to have healthy looking hair. Good luck!

How did the pet agency know that Ellen gave her dog to her hairdresser?

They did a follow up visit to see how the dog was adapting and she told them.

.How did the pet agency know that Ellen gave her dog to her hairdresser?
They called her house to check up on the dog, and she told them the truthHow did the pet agency know that Ellen gave her dog to her hairdresser?
That's a damn good question. I love Ellen, but the tears were a bit much for me.
She told them. She tells everything about herself. She's a big mouth.
They called her home to check up on the dog
they called to check up on the dog and ellen told them she had given it to the hairdresser because she spent $5,000 on getting it trained and it still didn't get along with the family's cat.
They called and asked how the dog was doing, she answered (truthfully) and the rest is history.
Because she opened her big mouth on national television.
They called her with a follow up on the adoption. To make sure everything was still going well. Ellen told them she had given the dog to her hairdresser.

http://media.photobucket.com/image/layer…I want my hair to look like this. what should i ask for at the hairdressers? (pic!)?
tell them you want a heavy side bang. Tell them not to use a razor (it gives you that look you dont like). Tell her you want it kind of blunt and thick. Take the two pictures with you!I want my hair to look like this. what should i ask for at the hairdressers? (pic!)?
Just ask for a side fringe. It's obvious that in the 2nd picture that her bangs have grown out, or wouldn't cut right in the first place. One main difference is that the bangs are straightened in the second pic, not in the first one - that's why they are curved. Just a tip.

Bring in the first picture, stylists love it when they have a visual image to work with. %26amp;Whenever you go to style it, use a round brush, push your bangs over to the side, %26amp;brush them til they form sort of a curve. I actually prefer to just straighten mine now, because they never stay like that throughout the day - especially on windy days.

    Good luck.
I got a fringe just like the first fridge just say to the hairdresser that you want a long side fringe that goes across the for head.

You want the hair dresser to do it long because it is always good to give it a trim yourself because you know how you want it.

All of my friends do this and none of there fringes goes like picture 2.

And then just simply say how long you want your hair.

I hope that's what you meant and how you want it :)
could you print the pictures and show them to who is doing your hair? that way they know how you dont want them and could help give you tips how to syle them to look like the picture you like
So you want them more curved? Tell them that. and take them the pictures. and ask them to tell you how to style it.

  • How do i describe to my hairdresser about the style of cut I want?

I want scene hair but I don't know how to describe how I want it cut to my hairdresser please help!

Here is an idea of the hair I want.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn186鈥?/a>How do i describe to my hairdresser about the style of cut I want?
If I was you, I'd make sure the lady fully understood the concept of scene hair, lol. Some old people don't.

Bring in PICTURES, of course... but make sure you bring in a picture that shows the top bottom and sides. The pic is only good from the chin up. So bring that one, the grab another one that shows the length, another one from the side.

For a scene cut you need to tease the top of it a lot, so it's going to look different before you hairspray and tease it.

There's a lot of layers in those cuts, but you don't want a mullet. Be careful they don't cut a mullet.. I've seen it happen more often then not.

Basically you want a razored cut, side bangs, with lots of volume at the top.

Show her a picture. Email it to the salon if you dont have a printer.

Good luck. How do i describe to my hairdresser about the style of cut I want?
Go to your brothers room and find a picture on the wall of the girls hair you like the most and then bring it in with you when you go to the hair salon. Or you can look through magazines. There are hairstyle magazines you can buy. Salons usually carry them too.
Just print that exact picture and take it to her.

Stylists work best off of pictures. If you just went in and tried to describe it she might think you mean somethign completely different. Trust me, don't take that chance!

    Good luck!
take the picture! %26amp; if she tells you that won't work for your hair, don't insist. see if you can work out a modified version.
    Just bring the picture!
    Bring in a picture.

That is just a fashion mullet though...
Bring in a picture of what you want
it's always best to take a pic.

Can I go back to my hairdresser if i am not happy?

Earlier in the week I had a mobile hairdresser come to my home and put highlights and lowlights. I said that I didn't want the blonde ones too big and too bright but it turned out that they are and the low lights were supposed to match my original colour but do not. I am not very happy with this and wonder whether i have a right to call her and ask her if she can calm them down a bit? any advice? Can I go back to my hairdresser if i am not happy?
of course you can call her and you should.

if she is reputable she will correct it at no charge..

if not you learned who not to use and bad referrals go around quicker than good ones...

good luckCan I go back to my hairdresser if i am not happy?
My girlfriend has been a barber since I first met her but no she was not my barber but lived in the same apartment complex as myself. Never be rude to a barber or they might say oops, your ear just fell off. Be polite and ask her back without showing any displeasure with the prior treatment. Just say that you changed your mind and need it adjusted.
yeah because you paid her to do a certain thing to your hair and it's not what you wanted. I would go back to her and ask her to fix it.
Yea you do, at the end of the day you paid her to make your hair how you wanted it but it's not.
My hair dresser always allows me to come back if i don't like the cut or want to change it. I do not see why he/she wouldn't as they should be artists and only accept the best.
Your a consumer and if they don't have good plessure yet they paid her/him to do her hair and she doesnt like then u go back and ask her to fix it(nicely)
    yes call her back
Yes you do. You paid her. But if she asks for more money dont. Cause your not suppose to pay for her corrections
of coarse you should go bac

How much socialising/gossiping do you do when you go to the hairdresser?

LOL like so much that it's not even funny. They just love gossiping about ALL the celebrity's.I love it there because my hair lady always has something to say.How much socialising/gossiping do you do when you go to the hairdresser?
Werdz: I knew that there was another reason, besides bad taste, that you wore that hat!!!!! Your hairdresser gave you a bowl cut didn't he! You just give me new material to work with everytime you come on here.......

And just to answer your question, yes I love the girl talk -because the girls love me.How much socialising/gossiping do you do when you go to the hairdresser?
Well I usually go with my aunt. Her and I get our hair done at the same time by the same lady. She has known her awhile and is kind of a family friend. Well not friend, I guess acquaintance. So her and my aunt talk about random stuff lol. Or sometimes we'll talk about me and how i'm doing in work and school :)
Not much. I don't like it when they try and talk to me. Not because they don't appear to be nice people.... just, I'm never going to see them again *probably*, and we don't know each other. What is the point of a conversation.
I'm the strong silent type. I take the hat off, tell the person how I want it done, and don't say a word until it's time to pay. Then I tip my cap and walk off.

I'll bet Joey just loves ';girl talk';!!!
I had the same lady cut my hair for a few years and we became friends. We just talked about work and her family. Then one day she was gone! She did such a good job on my hair, now I have to take my chances.
I'm always socializing/gossiping at the hairdresser's.....even though I never get a hair cut.....after all that's where all the nice women are.
Oh dear, gossiping is scandalizing. by the way, did you hear about Clara Hookenboker? She has been seen stepping out on Mr. Hookenboker. And that Nancy Johnson...LOL
Well when I go I go with my mom, so us and the hairdresser talk about people we know. The hairdresser knows half my mom's family. So there's a lot of gossip and socializing. lol
I try to be quiet and reserved. I am the old granny that keeps my ears open and then tells her bingo ladies what she heard.
I have a mobile hairdresser who comes to me. She doesn't shut up. She gives me a headache!
Not too much. Only when a person walks in the shop and has very soft hair. How about you?

    Yours Truly,

    Wilma

    =)
a lot..my hairdresser is always gossiping about somebody.
considering my hairdresser is my mom, not much
you know it's hard to believe but even in a barber shop that's all we do is talk smack about each other and then when we talk bad about some guy and he walks through the door we all hush up
    l'm bald. I don't go to a hairdresser.
i don't but i sure get a kick from listening to the ladies in there

How long does it take your hairdresser to cut your hair?

It all depends on how you are getting it cut,how thick your hair is,how experienced the hairdresser is,and how sharp the scissors are.How long does it take your hairdresser to cut your hair?
It would depend on how you are having it cut and also how thick your hair is.How long does it take your hairdresser to cut your hair?
I've never been to one.Takes me up to one hour if I do a really excellent job.
    20 minutes
about 45 minutes and cost a fortune
when I was in the Marine Corps, 3 minutes.

these days, 20 min max including the wash
about ten minutes, as you can see in my avatar it's a big mess
my hairdresser normally takes 20 mins ish... though he butchered it and i am not going back
About an hour. I wear it short, and have so many cowlicks it looks like a mine field exploded! This is without styling or drying.
    abt half an hour..........
    It depends really.

my hair is very thin and short.

But if I want a trim, usually it's under half an hour including blow dry etc...

But,If i want a completely different style, usually about 45 minutes, because they straighten it and I always like a style with a lot of layers.

    :)
    abt an hour
    minimum 25 minutes

    maximum 35 minutes
    Roughly around 2 minutes.........

because my barber is the fastest hair dresser in town.....and it takes hardly two minutes for him to set my bald hairline.........

    It's pleasure being a bald ......

you don't have to wait for too long in the barber shop.......

And i have heard that bald people are more sexier and more smarter then normal hairy creatures .............

Sometimes it can be a burden to carry ounce weight of normal hairs

    Thanks God i don't have it ......

    Juss joking......

BBye ---- Exploring the naughty side of me
Too long. That's why my hair is now short!

No, seriously, most of the time it takes about 45-50 minutes for a cut and style. (I HAD hair to my shoulder blades.) The last haircut I had, however, was a disaster. My regular stylist wasn't available, and the new gal decided to have a party on my head with her scissors. And once it's cut, it's cut, you know? You can't say, ';Hey, can you put some of that back on my head?'; Yikes! Moral: Always wait for your favorite stylist to get back from vacation. A week is a lot shorter than a grow-out.
well when i just get a trim, around 10-15mins

Has anyone with dark hair ever dyed it/bleached it so its alot lighter? hairdressers keep telling me NO!?

i have long dark hair as you can see from my avatar..altho it looks black in photo is actually a very very dark brown and youc an see this when im out. i want to be blonde..even just for a couple of months but no hairdresser will touch me! they keep saying its not possible but i know thats not true cos ppl like jennifer lopez and aniston had dark hair before they got famous and now they are both lighter and look at victoria beckham! she had black hair and now shes blonde. i understand the keeping ontop of it would be alot of work but i just want to be a blonde over the part season then i will go back to my normal color. has anyone ever gone alot lighter and how was it? i dotn want to do it myself out of a box cos my collegue did this and her hair turned a wierd carrot color.Has anyone with dark hair ever dyed it/bleached it so its alot lighter? hairdressers keep telling me NO!?
Lightening dark hair means you have to ';strip'; the pigment from the hair, making it lighter. The salons don't want to do it because they're afraid it will damage your long hair. Once that damage is done, there's no repairing it. No conditioners or treatments will make it the way it was.

You can do it at home with a HIGH volume developer you get a beauty supply store. But be prepared to leave it on for over 3 hours; more likely 4 to 5. You have to leave it on until you get past the gold stage. Only when it's pale yellow will it be ';blonde';. Thats why your friend's hair was orange, she didn't leave it in long enough.

If you're going to do it, I strongly recommend a big batch of foil highlights. Don't just ';color it blonde.'; A lot of highlights will make it look better, and help with the damage factor.Has anyone with dark hair ever dyed it/bleached it so its alot lighter? hairdressers keep telling me NO!?
    brunnettes are far more sexy
Ok I had the same problem a while back, I had dark brown hair and wanted it like, Gwen Stefani blonde, and every salon said no. Because alot of people with dark hair come in and ask, and aren't aware that it's going to really damage their hair. Personally i didn't care, and had my hairdresser friend do it. But if you want the salon to do it, tell them you would like to gradually lighten it, say you want highlights all over, and you want to come back and highlight more, then highlight the highlights, until it's a light blonde. if you put space between and do it a little at a time, it won't damage your hair nearly as much, and the hairdressers like to hear that you want to take your time with it. The people that come in and want to be bleach blonde from black hair in 1 day are the ones that make it hard for anyone else with dark hair to get it done. Also If you like it, keep it. dying it back will be hard too, because it strips the hair and it's much harder for it to hold darker color afterwards. They'll have to put in a deep red first over the blonde, then go brown, or else it'll go green. So if you REALLLY want it, go slow, and then keep it for a while.
ye i do it out of a box the whole time. i have extremely dark brown hair. leave it in for 2 hours and u should b fine
yeah, lighten it a few shades and then wait a few weeks, then go to a hairdresser, they will probably do it then.
I know someone who tried it and it did not work at all! It turned out a really weird color and she had to make a couple of trips back to the salon to get it corrected...it was expensive and didn't look good at all. If hairdressers are telling you no, then I wouldn't try it.
DO NOT DO THIS WITH A BOXED COLOR!!!

This is something that MUST be done in a hair salon.

I think the reason they don't want to touch your hair, because it will damage you hair. They will have to bleach you hair out, which will hurt your hair to no end, and then tone it with another color to take any of the brassiness out.

I've done it, and the first time was ok, but when i went to touch up the roots, i chemicaly cut my hair. ( meaning it broke at the regrowth) Bleach swells when it is processing and it swelled on to the old blond.

You will have to get retouches done at the salon.

    Good luck
if you have such a lovely hair , as you say have and you look ravashing than WHY ? change if you were my G/F i would say dont do it women i like the way you are . if you do change your colour of your hair than you will not get back the colour you had and that could affect your hair and toyr head and you may start loosing hair and i am sure you do not want that . you should cahnge your pict and show your real colour . i think you look very beautiful as you are now , if you were my g/f i would adore you as you are .

good luck and think hard before you decide
It may be a lot of damage to your hair but you can do it. It will probably be a 3-step process. You need to speak to a better salon. :)
    it will turn orange

    don't do it
You don't say which Country you are in - there is a pokey little Town in the Midlands, called Kidderminster, and year after year a hairdresser called Lisa or Liza, is awarded the accolade of ';Hair Colourist of the Year';.

That's where I'd go if I wanted to do something drastic and could afford a good hairdresser.

On the other hand, some 45 years ago, I went to a hairdresser local to our Bristol flat and said I wanted to be blonde (from a rich reddish dark brown) and it was great. I stayed that way for about 6 years before deciding to go back to my natural colour. Had no problems at all.
i havnt done it myself because i havnt got dark hair but i know people that have.you wont be able to do all in 1 go ,youl have to do it gradually,a few highlights everytime you go to the hairdressers, your hair will instantly look lighter, but not full blonde, however itl get lighter every time you go.when your bored or it and want to go brown again just get a perminant dark brown dye,i put just a semi-perminant brown on my highlites a couple of months ago and it worked wonders.
Back in the 1980's when I was a lot younger, I wanted white hair like Billy Idol.

I too had dark hair, and used various blonde dyes without much sucess and eventually used peroxide, watching my hair turn lighter by the minute.

I ignored the time limit, and finally after an hour decided to wash my yellowy but kinda white hair in the sink, only to be able to pull it out in clumps.

The moral of the story is not to over do it.

    Take your hairdressers advice.
The reason why hairdressers will not touch it is because you will likely turn the wierd carrot colour first then if you wanted to try again you would do so at the risk of your hair falling out since peroxide would be used - not a very nice chemical.

My advice buy a good blond wig and wear for two months, that way you will not damage your hair.

PS Vic Beckham did not have black hair, her natural colour being brown - she has highlights - brown hair is easier to lighten than black.

Yes you can do it. Im a qualified hairdresser and have very dark brown hair myself. I have recently put a bleach blonde flash through i and its came out fine, its taken time though.

You do need to be careful though. Its probably better to do it over a few months and use a weaker strenght peroxide [9% for the first application then 6% for each application after that] than try to get it all the colour you want at once. It will go a yellow colour at first but just keep going over it, with the weak peroxide. If your hair gets really frzzy and damaged though then dont do it anymore. Most hairdresers wont touch it because if it doesnt come out right it looks bad on them. You jsut need to be careful and know what you doing. Make sure you keep your hair in very good condition in between %26amp; after each bleaching session, get some good conditioning treatments from a beaty store Boots or something and keep doing them. Let me know if you want any more help with this sweetie :)

    Good luck.
Why don't you put in those clip in extension things?
It is possible but it would be very expensive. DEFINITELY get a pro to do it or you'll end up looking like another carrot. What they do is lighten your hair in stages, that way it reduces the orange and slowly turns it more blond. Just be aware that the process is very damaging to your hair and you won't have the same texture until it grows out.
    oh em gee

    dont ever do that AGAIN
You can do it... but it is hell on your hair.

The orange color can be prevented. There is a special powder that you mix into the bleaching base that will prevent it. I don't know what it is called, but they sell it at Sally's Beauty Supply.

But- the whole thing about switching to blonde and then back to your color depending on the season, WON'T work.

Once you bleach, you hair becomes porous, and doesn't want to hold dark colors. I bleached my hair, and then tried to go brown latter... it looked fine, a few days and it was back to bleached out. :(

Then I tried red, same thing. My hair will only hold light colors now.

Soooo--- if you like your hair, and don't want to mess it up. Don't bleach it.

At least first try some highlights... see what it does to your hair, and if you like it. And also how you hair will take to going back.

    Good luck.

    Everyone hair is different.
Yes it is true it will come out a little bit brassy! But you can make it alot lighter. i died my hair black and once it faded for 3 months i bleached it. turn orange brassy but it got lighter. then i dyed my hair a soft blonde and my hair got even and darker. and for the last dye i use a semi-permanant of light amburn. your hair will be nice, and even a soft brown blonde color. about all the damage, its not that bad. you can tell a little but deep conditon for a month and you'll be good.
idk but change you picture please its disturbing

  • Is it my fault if my son cuts through a hairdryer lead in the hairdressers?

My Friend works in a hair saloon. When we were there, I took my eyes off of my son for 2 minutes while I dealt with my daughter, by this time we had heard a big bang and my son had taken my friends bosses scissors and cut through the hairdryer lead. She now says I have to pay the cost of the damaged scissors and hairdryer. Would this be my fault or the owner of the saloon for leaving the scissors in reaching height for children to touch? Is it my fault if my son cuts through a hairdryer lead in the hairdressers?
Technically it is your fault. Stylist leave their equipment out to be ready for the next client. You should have your children wait in the waiting area if you can't watch them, even for two minutes. Is it my fault if my son cuts through a hairdryer lead in the hairdressers?
You answered the question yourself. You took your eyes off your son. Your fault. How could you do that to ';your friend'; anyway?

    Edit:

It is not the salon's responsibility to discipline your child. If someone had pryed the scissors from the child's hands, who knows, people like you would probably want to sue for that too. And for that reason, a lot of salons won't even allow children in who are not being serviced. You should be grateful you were allowed to bring your kids inside.

If you were in a supermarket, and the kid knocked something off the shelf and damaged it, wouldn't you expect to have to pay for the item?

Bottom line: You, the parent, were irresponsible in monitoring the safety of your child while in that salon.
I'm saying this as a parent of 2 boys. You are responsible. I would make your son pay for it. He needs to learn a lesson from it. If he doesn't have the money he needs to do something to repay your Friend. I was always taught that if you damage something of someone elese's you replace it. It's just the right thing to do. He also needs to learn that paying with scissors is not allowed. In preschool I watched a boy accidental cut into another boy's earlobe with a pair of scissors!

A few months agao, I had a friend whose son (5 yr) cut the strap on my baby bag. I wasn't mad and didn't insist on her replacing the bag. She made him apologize and pay me the money that he was saving up. It made me feel like he had learned a lesson and not like he was an unruly kid.
    WOW is your son OK?

OK as a salon owner myself, this is a tough one as its Ur friend that works there,

but it is your responsibility to keep your children in check whilst in the salon. also u were attending to your other child. where were the other members of staff when ur son was nearly electrocuting himself????

i can kinda understand about the scissors as they are very expensive, but she should be pleased your child is alright an still alive with no lasting damage! and not a big law suit 4 her!!!!

the salon would be insured for accidental damage such as this. i had a child break some clippers and even though over 拢150 i just swallowed the cost.

each an every stylist is accountable for his/her tools. and if there is an inquisitive child about its best to move them.

maybe a tip to citizens advise wouldn't go a miss, but i think she is being very unreasonable in her demands.

maybe u could see if you could reached a compromise and offer half of the cost instead. show willing and expect half the blame?
Your fault as it was your child, and the hairdresser is not supposed to have to worry about keeping sissors away from small childeren and hairdryer leads, since parents are supposed to keep an eye on their childeren.Your child damaged something on the property so you have to pay for the hairdryer.
I think you should pay up as you were not supervising your son and a hair salon is not a playground. What if he had stuck the scissors into someone would it still be the salons fault?
Bad kitty it's your fault. But as a business they should have insurance and what not to cover mishaps like this.
    wouldnt this affect ur friendship?

What percent should you tip your hairdresser, 15 to 20 like a restaurant?

depends on how well you think the haircut is

i usually tip about 15% and they all seem happy with that amount lolWhat percent should you tip your hairdresser, 15 to 20 like a restaurant?
Im a hairdresser and where i work the haircuts are 11$ so no i wouldnt tip 10-20%. I always tip five or more. When I get my hair colored its like 120$ and I tip between 20$-30$.What percent should you tip your hairdresser, 15 to 20 like a restaurant?
I sometimes see people give more...but 15 to 20 is a good start. I do nails and it's not uncommon to get $5.00 for a $18.00 service. Hairdressers of course get a bit more for the service... It may depend on what your hairdresser does, some of them really put out an effort to give you a cut and color or style that you enjoy for months, if you have someone who really works for you to give you color and style that flatters you and fits your life style and makes others oooh and aaah, gets you coffee and doesn't soak your back, get color on your clothes or leave you waiting, be appreciative (if you can afford it).

If you walk into a quickie cut place for a bang trim, go the 15 to 20.
I usually 10-20% depending on how good the service is. Tips are definitely a must.
not sure...depends on the cost of the haircut and how good it is...i usually tip 5 or 6 bucks on a $20 haircut....

Hmm... it looks like you are in a tricky situation.

Usually I don't give the best advice, but I try. Haha.

Have you ever tried special shampoo to loosen your hair a bit? Try smoothing shampoo and conditioner. You don't have to spend much money. Try using Pantene or Dove. Those work great.

I use Proclaim hair spritz on my hair to protect it all day from frizziness, flyaways and heat damage. You can buy it online or at a beauty salon.

Use that hair spritz and then straighten your hair. Tell me the results if you would like to try it!

A bonus to the special hair spritz- it makes your hair so beautiful and shiny!

I hope this has helped. Good luck!Any tips on what i can do with my hair?(without going to the hairdressers)?
Deep condition your hair. use a shop brought one or a homemade one by mixing two whole eggs with four tablespoons of olive oil. Smooth through your hair. Wrap your head with plastic wrap, and leave in your hair for 10 minutes. Rinse well.

Hairstyle ideas, keep it simple. Try putting a bandanna or headband in your hair.

Well it sounds as it your hair is damaged and needs treatment and the only remedy for that is conditioner for dry hair, remoisturizing shampoo, and cut, cut, cut away the dry and damaged ends.
